music in the park

17 Jul

For the first time this summer Corey and I made it to Music in the Park. We went just about every Monday last year and it was so great to go again. We drank wine out of McDonald’s cups (because we’re classy like that), we sat close to each other on the blanket, laughed, moved closer to the stage, drank more wine, and watched some random guy do some pretty freaking awesome dance moves.

Erin and I went to Music in the Park last Wednesday… I didn’t take any pictures, but she did 🙂

Dear really nice lady that helped me yesterday, Thank you. I really can’t say enough how grateful I am you knew I wasn’t okay and helped even when others wouldn’t. I appreciate you.

Dear Suzanne Collins, You wrote really, really great books! I just finished re-reading Catching Fire and wish I had Mockingjay with me right now.

Dear people that keep talking about the heat, Please, just stop. I get it okay. The vast majority of you have some kind of cooler home to go to… I do not. (But huge thanks to Erin for offering to let me stay at your house last night!)

Dear popsicles, I. Love. You!

Dear WEEKEND! Hi, I’ve missed you! I’m ready to celebrate you every way possible! Just as soon as I get my dentist appointment out of the way.

Dear SarahCatherine, I CANNOT wait to see you! I really wasn’t joking when I said I might just pack up and come visit you one of these weekends.

Dear boyfriend, Thanks for a really fantastic date on Wednesday. I love you!

About a month ago Corey got us tickets to go on an evening fireworks boat cruise on the Chicago River/Lake Michigan and last night we finally got to go! It was the perfect evening for it… the weather, my love, the vibe of the night. Perfect.

Dear Best Friend, Happy National Best Friend Day!!

Dear weekend, THANK YOU for finally showing up. It feels like forever since we’ve been together.

Dear iPhone, I appreciate you. You allow me to stay somewhat connected to the outside world even though I don’t have internet at home. Plus, you have that cool app that tracks my sleep cycles.

Dear summer, you’re here!

Dear SarahCatherine, One year!!

Dear People that say “literally”, Please, I beg you, learn when to say it. You didn’t literally sleep for 127 hours, you slept for 9.

Dear future puppy, It’s killing me that I can’t come get you now. Right now. But when I do we’re going to have the best time cuddling together and watching the Bachelorette. No doubt. Plus, I already have a friend for you to play with. He’s nice, you’ll like him.

Dear new apartment, I love you!!… Even with your squeaky floors, closet-less bedroom, and that trombone player that lives downstairs. I love coming home to you and unpacking another box and cooking in the kitchen. I seriously LOVE cooking in that kitchen.

Dear boyfriend, Because I have so much more space to work with in my kitchen I’ll be baking more. Prepare yourself. Do what you gotta do.

Dear running shoes, I’m sorry I haven’t used you for running in a long time. I promise I’ll get back to running as soon as I feel more settled and unpacked. Soon!

Dear sisters, I’m SO glad we rotated the DVDs. I’m loving watching my set!!

Happy weekend!!

the vault

24 May

You know what’s a really un-fun way to wake up? To a call at 4AM from the security company saying that your dads house was potentially broken into. It’s no fun. At all. Thankfully after sitting awake in my bed for 45 minutes my dad called me back and told me everything was just fine and that the door wasn’t completely shut all the way. In that moment I was never more grateful to hear my dads voice. We talked until about 5AM and then agreed we should get back to sleep.

Needless to say I am tired today. Not in a bad way, but in a I really hope today rocks because I am sleeeeeeeepy. About 35 seconds after thinking this I get a text from my coworker, “In line for doughnuts!” Hallelujah!! I had completely forgotten she was going to pick up doughnuts the size of my head from the doughnut vault for the office today. If the rest of my day is half as awesome as the post-5AM part has been, it’s going to be a good day.

turning “we should” into “we did”

9 May

It never fails that when Corey and I are together we come up with another “should”… we should go to that store down the street… we should go to a play… we should spend a whole day in bed watching movies… we should should should… Yet, we don’t.

Lame, right?

We decided we needed to change that. So, the other day I got a text from the boyfriend asking if I wanted to do a should? Yes, sir, I do! He suggested we go mattress shopping (for him) or to that random clothing store down the street from my house. Personally I had my heart set on mattress shoppingturns out mattress stores close around 6. How stupid is that? How are people who work the 9-5 supposed to go??

Plus, shopping with Corey is one of my all-time favorite things to do. I rarely buy more than I need to and I end up learning something new about him. Win/Win.

After not really coming up with what we should actually do, we decided to settle it the mature way. Rock/Paper/Scissors. The boyfriend won so we headed north and ended up just walking around and poking into stores… a hat shop, a bike shop, almost into a tea shop, and finally we ended up at Dueces, where we ate burgers and lounged on these fabulous outdoor couches and stayed for the next 3 hours.

It was… dare I say it… a perfect night.
