So pretty

30 Nov

Trish sent me this picture of Grace the other day with the captioning: Do you think Aunt Erin and Aunt Sarah will like my outfit?

Yes, Gracie… I love your outfit!

Trish, please tell Grace that she looks simply maaaarvelous. And then scoop her up and give her a thousand kisses for me πŸ™‚

So very thankful

24 Nov

The past couple years, and the past 10 months especially, have been difficult for me and my family. I feel like I have grown and learned enough to know that in spite of it all I am blessed. I have so very much to be thankful for.

I am so thankful for my mom. Both as my mom and as the woman she was. I am so proud to have called her my mom, my friend, my secret keeper, the worlds best hugger, the person who would keep me in line, my teacher, and the strongest female influence I will ever have. She taught me how to fight for the good, how to stay strong, that it’s okay to cry, how to love, and how to be the woman I am today. The holidays will never be the same without her, but I am so very thankful for the love she showered me with during my 23 years with her.

I am so thankful for my dad. Both as my dad and the man he is. My dad has three daughters, loves every minute of it, and isn’t afraid to tell people he loves it. His love and support and sense of humor is what has helped me through the hardest moments and has lifted me higher during the good moments. There is nothing like a dad who loves his daughter.

I am so thankful for my sisters. I love that I’m from a family of all girls who grew up sharing a bathroom, clothes, and experiences. These are the two people who will always be able to bring me back to my childhood and encourage me through life in a way nobody else can.

I am so thankful for my boyfriend. He shows me love in so many ways and has allowed me to show him my love back. He makes me think about things in a different way and makes me laugh until I cry. His ability to say the right thing at the right time is amazing and I appreciate him. When I hug him I know life is good.

I am so thankful for my brothers-in-law. They provide a different kind of love than anyone else. I didn’t grow up with brothers so it has been an adventure.

I am so thankful for my nephews and niece. Talk about living life to the fullest. These munchkins help me through everything, but more than anything they show me what it means to live happily. When I am with them I play and laugh more. I have loved watching them grow up so far and am thrilled to see the people they are and are becoming.

I am so thankful for my friends. These people keep me on my toes. They are some of the most loving and honest people I have ever met in my entire life. They let me tell my 3 hour long stories and want to tell me theirs. They are the people I call with my random stories and miss when I haven’t seen them for a few days. They let me be me.

I am thankful for my job, my apartment, my heated blanket, nail polish, and my ability to make dinners without completely messing up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

24 Nov

Happy birthday, Trish!! I can’t wait to celebrate with you! I love you!

forgotten (phone) pictures: part 1

22 Nov

We’ve all been there. You take pictures on your phone and they just sit there… and sit there… and sit there some more. Not anymore! I realized the other day that I have 763 pictures saved to my phone. Seven hundred and sixty-three. Really, Sarah? Really??

I’m definitely NOT going to post all 763, but I am going to show you some of my favorites…

I woke up one morning to this picture message from Sarah... this picture sums up our relationship. It's SarahLove (+H)

This kid beats me at Chinese checkers fair and square almost every time.

I got my mom this card for her birthday last year... aaaand got glitter all over her bed. She loved it though πŸ™‚

Ew. Ewewewewwwwwwwwww. It's pretty, but I'm not in any hurry for it.

This was the first beer I drank (almost) entirely on my own.

We were definitely asked if we were twins more than once the day we accidentally wore inverted outfits.

Deck them halls and ho ho ho!

I sent this to 3 friends to see what they thought of it... I got two very blunt NOs and one YES. One friend said it looked like I was wearing awful old wall paper. Needless to say, I didn't buy it.

"I just need to do a little remodeling and fixin' up"

I don't know what I love more: her curls or smile πŸ™‚

Four great things about this morning

21 Nov
  1. As soon as I woke up I knew I wouldn’t need coffee. With last week being my first week at my new job I let myself go crazy and get Starbucks everyday, but told myself that wouldn’t continue. I’m pretty sure I’m just super pumped that it’s a short workweek due to Thanksgiving, but hey, I’ll take it!
  2. I’m going to my sisters after work today so I drove to work and there was virtually NO traffic on my way! Last week it took me 45 minutes to go from Belmont to Chicago on LSD and today it took 10. TEN! That’s ten minutes, not hours, or years… just ten quick minutes. My commuter self was sosososo happy about that.
  3. Since I got to work much quicker than I thought I would I stopped by Chick-fil-A. Yeah, that sorta defeats the purpose of not getting Starbucks if I’m just going to spend that money anyway, but I tell ya, it made me so happy. I’m now sitting here in a food coma and love every bit of it.
  4. The day care next door brings all the bundled up kids outside for a walk around the block every morning and afternoon. Those are two of the cutest moments of my day. They haven’t gone this morning yet, but it’ll be adorable when it does in about an hour.

Happy Monday!

Welcome, Izaak!

20 Nov

2 weeks (and 1 day) ago Erin, Derek and Paul welcomed the newest

addition to their family!

Izaak Robert was born November 5, 2011 and is so very loved.

Big brother Paul absolutely loves little Izaak! As I was walking into their house Paul said he had a surprise for me and that it was “really little and a human!” haha!

All the cousins πŸ™‚

Welcome to the world, Izaak! I’m so happy you’re here! Love, Aunt Sarah

awkward & awesome thu-… friday?!

18 Nov

  • When I’m talking to someone online and I feel the need to say something, but it isn’t directly related to the conversation I (put it in parentheses). I just wrote 4 different lines of randomness to my seeester in parentheses. She still loves me.
  • Trying to initiate a conversation that wasn’t at all part of the previous one by adding “speaking of…” but not realizing that it wasn’t part of it until after I sent the text. Go me!
  • This is a 2 parter… Part 1. I’m addicted to Pinterest. Part 2. I sometimes go on one board pinning sprees and then randomly find something I want to pin somewhere else but forget that I’m not pinning it to the right board and everything gets messed up. (Kudos if you understood any of that)
  • Putting my phone on speaker while I’m on hold and then nearly peeing my pants when someone started talking because I forgot I was waiting.
  • I was going through all my pens/markers/etc. figuring out which ones still worked and took a picture of all my colored sharpie markers because that’s what cool people do.
  • I’ve forgotten to do A&A Thursday for a long time so this is actually from the past couple of weeks. And posted on a Friday.

  • The movie Tangled. You remember mine and Corey’s movie night fail, right? Wellllll, I’m happy to say that we have each picked one movie to watch. His choice was Howl’s Moving CastleΒ and mine was Tangled. Since we watched my pick I have watched it approximately 6 times. Don’t judge. It really is that good. (“Her hair glows. I didn’t see that coming. Why does her hair glow?!”)
  • I have bangs now!
  • Keeping Up with the Kardashians. I know I’m really late to that party, but I can’t help it. I’m obsessed. I don’t want their lives, but man do I want their lives.
  • Right around a year ago my mom hand wrote the chicken soup recipe she made during the middle of winter or when me and my sisters were sick and I made it over the weekend. My boo was sick so he was my inspiration. It didn’t turn out quite like my moms, but hopefully after a few tries it’ll be closer. πŸ™‚
  • Erin had the baby!!! Izaak was born 11/5/11 and was (is) tiny and adorable and very loved.
  • Oh, so, yeah… I got a full time job! I have been praying and searching to get a job that I like. I started on Monday and I can already feel myself relaxing about so many things. I’m so grateful for the job I had between graduating and starting here, but I am one of those people that actually likes the consistency of the 9-5.
  • Sylwia and I met at a Greek restaurant right by my house for what was supposed to be a quick dinner so she could get back to studying and we ended up staying over 4 hours.
  • Thanksgiving is next week and I’m so excited that I’ll be surrounded by all the people I love.
