St. Partrick’s Day!

19 Mar
Happy (belated) St. Patrick’s Day!

Before I jump into the few pictures/story of what I did, you should take a look at Erin’s St. Patrick’s Day post that made me nostalgic. She hit the nail on the head and I loved looking back on our dancing years together. Have I ever mentioned that I Irish danced? It was a huge part of my life for well over a decade, both dancing in shows and competing. Loved it all! Over the years I got to meet some really fabulous people and experience once in a lifetime events.

This year Corey and I went for brunch at Salt & Pepper Diner and then met up with some friends and headed up to Wrigleyville for an afternoon of drinking at Bernie’s. Later Corey and I took his dog for a walk, ate dinner, and cuddled up on the couch and watched The Seven Year Itch. It was a good day :)

Hope you all had a fab weekend!

over the weekend

12 Mar

FIRST

I know I wasn’t the only person that forgot about Daylight Savings Time… but MAN, it sure did throw me off. Saturday night after Corey and I got back to his apartment I told him that I thought it was strange that my phone said it was 3:15AM when it was obviously 2:15AM.

Obviously.

ANYWAY

I hope y’all had a great weekend! I know I did.

Well, I guess I should start off by confessing that I didn’t go to that HARDCORE ABS class on Friday. I was trying to talk myself out of it all day and knew it was a sign I shouldn’t go when I told my sister about it and she asked me, “Are you sure you want to do that the day before a concert/the weekend?” That question alone sealed the deal – I was going to get hardcore abs someday, but it wasn’t going to be Friday.

After work I went home, made lunch, painted my nails (a pretty, bright color!), finally hung up my IKEA frames, and watched Some Like it Hot (and had NO shame while laughing out loud by myself).

Saturday I slept in, ran a few errands and then went to hang out with my friend Julia Nunes, you know, the one I told you about here. AND to my utter happiness she did bust out some Sunshine and Buttercup! Woot woot!

This guy, Mark Rose, opened for Julia and sounded just lovely. Bonus! He’s from Chicago!

This guy, Mike, is friends with my friend Julia. Cool, huh? It’s like we’re BFFs by association. No? [There was a group of  college freshman girls standing next to us and they announced about a gazillion times how DREAMY they thought he was... too funny]

JULIA!

YOU GUYS! So, truth be told, I was in a pretty bugged mood when Corey picked me up so we decided we would go out for margaritas after the JN show, but noticed that they had margaritas at the venue so we each got one and LET ME TELL YOU… Best non-strawberry margarita I’ve ever had. Well done, Subterranean, well done. ::high five::

Sunday I went with Corey to band practice. He says I looked bored, but I definitely wasn’t. I’m going to take a minute to be the cheesy girlfriend, but seriously, I love watching this guy play music.

Later that night I cuddled up on the couch with this guy on my right…

…and this guy on my left :)

So sad that the weekend is over and we lost an hour of sleep, but SO happy from all the weekend awesomeness :)

it’s FRIDAYYYY!!

9 Mar

It’s finally HERE!! Our beloved Friday.

The office I worked in during college was a Friday lovin‘ crowd and we’d play all the Friday related songs we could think of. I’m not going to tell you what mine is because you might judge me. (But if you really want to know you can find out here… and if you do you are not allowed to judge. Deal?)

Anywho…

I don’t have a TON planned this weekend, but I am going to a concert Saturday night that I am THRILLED about!!

I’m going to see Julia Nunes for the 3rd time in just over 2 years… wahoooo! Here’s to hoping she’ll bust out some Buttercup and Sunshine.

Or maybe we could get a little Lovin’ from her? (Bahh!! I was totally there! I was actually standing next to Todd, who was taking the video).

Now, I suppose me going to a concert Saturday night all depends on how tonight goes first. Staying in line with trying to make it to 2 workout classes per week I am going to an abs class tonight, but this isn’t just any abs class… it’s called… HARDCORE ABS. For real. It’s in all caps on their website too. I’m scared. And might be scarred after.

So assuming I can still physically move tomorrow, I’ll be hanging out with Julia, Corey, and Todd. Woooooo!

Happy Friday!! xoxo

weekend goodness

27 Feb

This was one of the most refreshing weekends I’ve had in a long time. I got plenty of sleep, spent time with some of my favorite people, saw a movie, organized part of my apartment, watched the brewing of beer, and actually made it through all of the Oscars without falling asleep.

Nothing beats a lunchtime walk around the neighborhood I work in.

I actually had a pretty sucky first half of Friday so I baked myself cupcakes…

…and they are delicious.

Saturday Erin and I went to see The Vow and I got a few words of wisdom from Dove.

Littlest Bug came with us and was so good! He sat on my lap throughout almost the whole movie and just watched the movie. Way to go, Izaak!

Saturday night I went to my dear friend Carrie’s [the gorgeous one in the middle] going away party at Hubbard Inn. I’m so so excited for her big move to the Big Apple next week!! (But selfishly going to miss her!)

Sunday was the most perfect Sunday. I woke up and had part of a lazy morning and then was inspired by the sunshine and beautiful day to be productive. Corey and I went to lunch and then out to Oak Park to brew some beer. (Correction, the boys did the brewing, I watched)

As we were getting ready to leave I asked if we were near a Target because it had been wayway too long since I had gotten my fix. So, he humored me and we went. Is it weird that going to Target with him is one of my favorite things to do? I was so proud of myself (both of us, really) for walking out with only what we needed.

He then dropped me off at home so I could sit on my bum for the next 3 hours and watch the Oscars. Yesssss!

Did you guys have a good weekend? Do anything fun?

weekend recap

9 Jan

You couldn’t have found one person that was more excited for the weekend to finally come around than ME. I was itching to get out of the office and into the weekend.

After I left the office on Friday I stopped by my old office to drop off some movies I borrowed from Rikki and to catch up with Danielle.

Danielle’s daughters were there too and let me tell ya, I heart those girls. Danielle’s older daughter asked I wanted to play Tap Tap.

What is Tap Tap?

Oh wait, it seems that I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t know what it is. After she asked me if I wanted to play I asked her if I would have to dance. Apparently this was the wrong thing to say to a 13 year old and her mom because they laughed at me until I was positive they were going to pee their pants.

If you are like me and don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s an iPhone app/game that is like Guitar Hero, but for the iPhone.

I then proceeded to royally suck at the game.

Then you know what happened?

I got good.

Well, good by my standards. I didn’t suck anymore. I never did beat D’s older daughter and then played her younger daughter and we each won once.

It was intense.

Friday night ended up not being nearly as competitive. Corey’s band (Eat That Plastic) was playing a show and I went and did my girlfriend/groupie thing. Thanks to Danielle for taking pictures while I watched and commented about how good my boyfriend looked. Because he sure as heck did look good.

Saturday and Sunday were relaxing in all the ways they should be. I cooked, cleaned, lounged, watched movies, went to the library, reorganized my bedroom and slept.
